We first added Kunekune pigs to VelvetFields almost by accident — a neighbouring farm was downsizing and we took on a small family group. Within a season, they had become undeniable favourites.

Unlike commercial breeds that require expensive grain rations, Kunekunes genuinely thrive on quality pasture. They root less than other breeds, which means your paddocks stay largely intact. They are sociable, gentle, and surprisingly trainable.
